Project management of the construction of a production facility for medical cannabis

Aurora Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of the Canadian Aurora Cannabis Inc. founded in 2006, entrusted us with the project management for the construction of one of the first production facilities for medical cannabis in Germany. The Federal Republic of Germany licensed it. We managed all construction phases from the contract award to a general contractor until the start of production. The unique challenge of this project: is to meet the high requirements of the later plant cultivation already during the plant's construction. This included irrigation, ventilation and CO2 supply. Since the building has to manage almost without windows due to official requirements, a different lighting system creates artificial daylight. In addition, there were extremely high demands on the safety technology of the sensitive and complex facility.
What did we learn?
In this high-tech production facility, the perfect interplay of the highest safety, plant cultivation and pharmaceutical purity specifications had to be ensured. For us, the requirements for the smooth interaction of all functions have never been higher. Since this experience, no cascade of conditions open to the top can frighten us anymore.
