Planning and construction of the European Headquarters of American Axle and Manufacturing (AAM) in Langen near Frankfurt/Main in cooperation with our friendly office SSOE from the USA.
New construction of a research and development centre with adjoining office space for administration.
A part of the equestrian facility, "Kronenhof", was separated from the building site.
The total area of the site is approx—35,700 sqm.
On it are, among other things:
Through good acquaintances from our network in the USA, we were approached to jointly plan the new administration with the attached prototype development and test stands and to manage the construction and commissioning.
After initial discussions in Frankfurt and Bad Homburg, it quickly became apparent that although an ideal site was available in Langen, near the German air traffic control centre, there was no building permit for this type of building.
Our general planning team, therefore, had to be expanded at short notice to include a city planner and various expert consultants to draw up a "project-related development plan".
In order not to lose any time, the necessary building permit was obtained in parallel with the planning application. At the same time, an efficient general contractor was acquired in the form of the Bremer company.
The planning was carried out by the AAM/SSOE/Scalaplus/Scalaplan construction department team between Detroit/Washington/Chicago and Hamburg virtually "over all the airwaves", and a construction management team was installed on site entirely by the ideas of our American partners.
Achieved AAM's goals with great dedication and pleasure, made friends in the process and learned once again what modern communication technologies can make possible and that the time difference can even increase productivity.
